I always encourage my couples to choose locations that fit their style and interests. And if there’s a location that is meaningful to them, even better! Here are a few great locations to consider!
Great Locations for Utah Engagement and Bridal Shoots
Storm Mountain, Big Cottonwood Canyon
This location is popular and with good reason! There’s a lot of variety to be had in a relatively small area. I recommend this location to couples who love the outdoors and aren’t worried about getting a little dirty. There are some beautiful mountain vistas, meadows, and red rock.
Bonneville Salt Flats, near Wendover
This location is great for couples that want a more surreal, modern look that’s still natural. And don’t mind getting salty. The salt flats are one of a kind and completely worth the drive! If you really can’t spare the hours of travel time, Saltair is a popular alternative.
Your Venue
Often times, your venue will let you shoot bridals free of charge. This is a great option because you probably picked your venue because it fits your style. Also, there’s rarely time on the wedding day to get intimate pictures done at the venue. Bridals are the perfect time to get those shots.
Historic Streets and Buildings
A few of my favorite urban locations are the Capital Building in SLC, The Exchange Place in SLC, The JSM Building in SLC, The Courthouse in Provo and Provo Center Street. Also pretty much any historic main street in any small town or city. You can shoot right on main street for a more formal look and then shoot behind main street for a more casual, grunge look.
I always recommend asking your photographer for input in picking a location. The right location has a lot to do not only with your style but your photographer’s style and the type of light they prefer when shooting. The time of day you’re shooting and the season is extremely important and your photographer will be able to help you navigate all of these issues and pick the best location for you!
